3.00 - Dean Howell (Revolution Foods) - Vegan Athletes for Peace cycle challenge 

On Friday, 22nd May, 2015, the ‘Vegan Athletes for Peace’ Cycling Team will commence, journeying from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 9 days, covering almost 950 miles – an average of 100 miles per day.

The team includes Neil Robinson and ex-Crawley and Fleetwood Town FC footballer Dean Howell (vegan, also owner of Revolution Foods).

Their aim is to raise funds for a variety of charities linked to animal & human plight, poverty, hunger, education, & environmental issues and also to raise awareness of how we can all help to promote world peace by adopting the non-violent vegan lifestyle.

According to a national survey, older people living in institutions often lack certain vitamins and minerals. Worryingly, nutrient deficiencies affect around four in ten older adults, which can lead to a vicious cycle of infection. Public health nutritionist Amanda Woodvine explains which nutrients to take special care over in and out of a care setting, easy ways to get them, and will be on hand to answer any questions specific to catering for older vegetarians or vegans.
