Co-founder & volunteer of The Food Waste Collective
Appearing on Sunday at A Well-Fed World Global Food Sustainability Conference
Vera is a Brighton-based food waste warrior, splitting her time between the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership's Love Food Hate Waste Campaign, the Sussex Gleaning Network and volunteering with the Food Waste Collective. She believes that in order to address the crisis of food waste, we must tackle all levels of the food supply and consumption chain at the same time. No one sector or community should bear the brunt of behaviour change alone.
With both food waste and food poverty looming over our public consciousness, Vera sees the value and moral imperative of utilising surplus food for social good in the short-run, while tackling the root causes of both waste and want in the long run. The Food Waste Collective brings together volunteers, food businesses and food poverty charities through a network of sharing and support, and lots of tasty food. The Collective is entirely volunteer-run and keen for more supporters.
