VegfestUK’s event at the Brighton Centre in 2016 saw the debut of The FxEctive Factor competition between vegan musicians and activists, which drew widespread acclaim in the vegan community for the sheer calibre of music and activism on offer, as well as the enthusiasm, talent passion of all contestants on top of a star-studded lineup of judges.
After a year’s hiatus, The FxEctive Factor is coming back to VegfestUK Brighton in March 2018, and with the tremendous growth of veganism, vegan ideas and vegan activists over the past couple of years, expect even more twists and turns as well as a larger repertoire of inspiring tunes and concepts for budding vegan activists looking to make a difference in their own communities.
What is The FxEctive Factor?
Drawing inspiration from multiple sources, The FxEctive Factor was first introduced as an informal and fun contest between rising stars in the vegan community. The 2016 competition was divided into a section for musicians largely composed of performances, and another for activists explaining a bit about their own activism and its effectiveness. Each section had a separate lineup of judges grading the contestants individually, with totals added up at the end and the winning prize handed out to the ultimate winners Mobius Loop and Vegan Geezer.
The 2018 version, scheduled to take place on the Saturday March 24th 2018 at the Brighton Centre as part of a mega VegfestUK event, will bear some similarity to its prelude with a few enhancements, the most prominent of which is that the competition will span a full day this time, with more contestants and potentially more judges and bigger prizes to be won. There are also plans for a public vote as well as the judges opinions to help decide the winners.
Precise format of the competition as well as ways of entering will be announced in the coming months.
